Pennsylvania man faces a variety of criminal charges after arrest

On Behalf of | Mar 31, 2017 | Violent Crimes

Criminal defense resources can help accused individuals with the allegations and charges they are facing and the potentially harsh punishments and consequences associated with them. In a nearby community an hour and a half south of the Carbondale area a man is facing DUI charges, drug charges and assault charges following his recent arrest. The 31-year old man is facing allegations of drunk driving, drug trafficking and assault and was held on $85,000 in bail. The man was previously charged with 3 counts of DUI and other traffic charges after police pulled him over for allegedly traveling 75 miles per hour. Blood tests allegedly revealed the man was under the influence of marijuana, Oxycodone, Oxymorphone and Alprazolam.

Also previously, following the DUI charges, police officers responded to reports of a physical disturbance at the same time a woman reported an assault at a fire station. The woman claimed she suffered an assault at the home police were responding to. The man was not at the house and an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with aggravated assault and simple assault related to the incident.

Hours following the alleged assault incident, police returned to the home with a search warrant. During the search, authorities allegedly found 2 bags of cocaine, packing materials, electric grinders, digital scales, a cutting agent, alleged gang materials and 2 boxes of ammunition. The man was charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. In between his DUI arrest and the alleged assault, the man also faced conspiracy, tampering with evidence and nearly 12 felony counts of possession with intent.

The man’s next court date is upcoming following his arrest on the warrant that was previously issued for his arrest. The criminal justice system can be complex and overwhelming for accused individuals to navigate as they face serious threats to their freedom and future. There are a variety of methods for responding to criminal charges related to the evidence being used against the accused individual and how the evidence was collected. If the accused individual’s rights were violated, or they were not afforded required legal protections, it is important they know how to enforce those rights and protections through the criminal defense process.
